Everyone in the pool was competing based on a CRS score higher and better.\n\nBut come 2025, general draws&#8230; if at all&#8230; happen rarely. Instead, the IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) holds category-based draws with a view to labor shortages. <strong>What this means is: <\/strong>\n<ul>\n \t<li>Candidates with CRS scores on the lower side are getting invitations.<\/li>\n \t<li>Applicants with scores that are very high but lacking in-demand skills may have to wait.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Category-based selection: Who gets preference? <\/strong><\/h3>\nThe Canadian government wishes to align immigration to its economic and demographic needs. So now, the following categories get priority:\n<ul>\n \t<li>French speakers &#8211; The invitations are flowing at CRS scores as low as 340.<\/li>\n \t<li>Healthcare workers &#8211; Doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and support staff.<\/li>\n \t<li>STEM workers &#8211; IT specialists, data analysts, engineers, and software developers.<\/li>\n \t<li>Trade workers &#8211; Electricians, welders, mechanics, and construction professionals.<\/li>\n \t<li>Transport and agriculture trades &#8211; To fill gaps in the rural and infrastructure economy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\nIf you are outside these categories, your higher CRS might not be giving you as much edge as before.\n<h3><strong>Why High CRS Is No Longer Enough<\/strong><\/h3>\nNow, let&#8217;s assume 485 is your CRS score. It&#8217;s excellent\u2014 but in the event that you are not in particular priority groups, you could be waiting while a French speaker whose CRS score is 350 or, say, a STEM worker with 420 CRS has obtained an ITA. Does this mean your Canadian dream is over?
