August 1, 2025,<\/strong> marks the end of the family visa petitions as we have known them.\u00a0 That\u2019s right, the <strong>United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)<\/strong> is clamping down on family visa screening in an effort to <strong>identify fraud and to ensure that only genuine family relationships<\/strong> are granted permanent residence.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5616d04 elementor-widget elementor-widget-theme-post-featured-image elementor-widget-image\" family-based permanent resident immigrant visa categories. The changes include, but are not limited to the following:<\/p><ul><li>More required in-person interviews<\/li><li>Increased scrutiny of supporting documents<\/li><li>A review of all petitions, including family or related petitions, for any fraudulent activity<\/li><\/ul><p>These new policies apply to all family sponsorship categories.<\/p><h2><strong>Who\u2019s Eligible &amp; What\u2019s Required?<\/strong><\/h2><p>You can still <a href=\"https:\/\/www.abhinav.com\/skilled\/usa\/family-based-green-card\/\"><strong>apply for a family-based visa<\/strong><\/a> if you are a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident petitioning for a close family member; however, there are new requirements as outlined below:<\/p><ul><li>You must provide strong evidence of your relationship with the beneficiary<\/li><li>You must be prepared to participate in an in-person interview, especially if the case is more complex, to show your family ties.<\/li><li>You must disclose whether you have already petitioned or filed multiple family-based petitions in addition to this petition; all petitions will be viewed as one case.<\/li><\/ul><h2><strong>For Americans Living Abroad<\/strong><\/h2><p>U.S. citizens who live overseas \u2014 especially <strong>military members or government workers<\/strong> \u2014 <strong>can now file petitions from abroad<\/strong> under certain conditions. This offers more flexibility but still follows the same strict checks.<\/p><h2><strong>What\u2019s Changed from Before?<\/strong><\/h2><p>Previously, USCIS focused mostly on submitted paperwork. Many applicants <strong>weren\u2019t called for interviews<\/strong>, especially in clear-cut cases. Now, the <strong>default approach is caution<\/strong>, with more <strong>in-depth verification<\/strong> and <strong>fraud detection<\/strong>.<\/p><p>Also, just because a petition is approved doesn\u2019t mean the person is safe from deportation.
