Employers will also need to act quickly to meet the new rules.<\/p><h2><strong>Jobs Cut: Fewer Jobs Qualify For Skilled Worker Visas<\/strong><\/h2><p>Under the purposes of awarding a Skilled Worker visa, it only applies to jobs at RQF Level 6 \u2014 the equivalent of a UK Bachelor&#8217;s degree.<\/p><p>So, in effect, 180 jobs (including chefs, care assistants, and delivery supervisors) are <strong>no longer valid for visa sponsorship<\/strong>. This will particularly impact the hospitality, logistics, and social care sectors.<\/p><p>Note: For you, if your employer issued a <strong>Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS)<\/strong> before July 21, the current rules will continue to apply to you.<\/p><h2><strong>Salary Thresholds Rise Sharply<\/strong><\/h2><ul><li>The minimum salary for a Skilled Worker visa is now<strong> \u00a341,700 per annum (\u20b945 lakh),<\/strong> an increase from<strong> \u00a338,700 (\u20b941.8 lakh).<\/strong><\/li><li>All categories of visas, such as Global Business Mobility and Scale-up, face high thresholds for salary as well.<\/li><li>Crucially, even for those who applied earlier, this new threshold applies if you&#8217;re applying for <strong>Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR)<\/strong> after July 22.<\/li><\/ul><p>No exceptions: There is no transitional relief for ILR applicants.<\/p><h2><strong>ILR: Permanent Residency Might Take Longer? <\/strong><\/h2><p>One of the most controversial aspects of the proposed new system is the 10-year wait to settle under the new \u201cearned settlement\u201d model. At the current time, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.abhinav.com\/skilled\/uk\/uk-skilled-worker-visa\/\"><strong>Skilled Worker visa<\/strong><\/a> holders can apply for ILR after 5 years.<\/p><p>The proposed model will award <strong>\u201cPoints-Based contributions\u201d &#8211;<\/strong> details are still pending.<\/p><p><em>Those exempt from the 10-year rule include:<\/em><\/p><ul><li>Partners of British citizens<\/li><li>Victims of domestic abuse<\/li><li>EU nationals under the EU Settlement Scheme<\/li><\/ul><h2><strong>What Employers Must Do Now <\/strong><\/h2><p>If you are a UK-based employer, you need to act now to comply. Here is a glance preparation list:<\/p><ul><li>Consider CoS before July 21 for affected roles<\/li><li>Review roles against new RQF Level 6 requirements<\/li><li>Confirm salary offer \/ update HR policies<\/li><li>Communicate changes clearly with existing employees<\/li><li>Seek legal advice in an attempt to avoid compliance issues<\/li><\/ul><h2><strong>What\u2019s Next: More Changes Expected in 2025<\/strong><\/h2><p>This is just the first wave. Coming soon:<\/p><ul><li><strong>Higher Immigration Skills Charges<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Graduate Visa to be reduced from 2 years to 18 months<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Tougher English language requirements<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>New family visa rules<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Proposal to make 10 years the new norm for settlement<\/strong><\/li><\/ul><h2><strong>Stay Informed, Stay Ready<\/strong><\/h2><p>While these changes bring tighter rules, <strong>they also offer clarity<\/strong>.
